Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

1. Who we are

Bolley Brewing & Distillation Ltd (Bolley Rum) is responsible for personal information collected through bolleyrum.co.uk in connection with its business. Address: 6 Station Street, Kibworth Beauchamp, Leicestershire, LE8 0LN, UK. Contact: andrew@bolleyrum.co.uk; 0203 005 1116.

2. Information we collect

When you interact with us, we may collect your name, contact details, billing and delivery addresses, order and transaction history, enquiry messages, marketing preferences, and technical information such as IP address, browser or device data and cookie preferences. Where age checks are necessary for alcohol sales, we may receive or record age-verification outcomes and information needed to demonstrate compliance. Our payment providers process card details; we generally receive payment confirmations and limited transaction references rather than full payment card information.

3. How and why we use information; lawful bases

We use information to take and fulfil orders, arrange delivery, provide customer service and process refunds (performance of a contract); maintain tax, accounting and alcohol-sales compliance records and comply with lawful requests (legal obligation); protect our website, prevent fraud, manage enquiries and improve services where balanced against your rights (legitimate interests); and send marketing where consent or another lawful marketing basis applies. Where consent is the basis, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting prior lawful processing.

4. Age verification

Because we sell alcohol, we may ask you to confirm your age and, where appropriate, use an age-verification provider or delivery partner to check whether you are 18 or over. We use age-check information for lawful alcohol sales and fraud prevention, not unrelated marketing. We aim to keep only information necessary for the check and any compliance record. Proof-of-age checks may also be performed at delivery; delivery may be refused if satisfactory proof cannot be provided.

5. Sharing information

We may share the minimum necessary information with Wix (our website and store platform), payment processors including Dojo where selected at checkout, delivery companies, IT and hosting providers, accountants and professional advisers, age-verification providers if used, and public authorities where required by law. These organisations may act as processors or independent controllers according to their roles. We do not sell customer personal information.

6. International transfers

Some website, payment or technical providers may process personal information outside the UK. Where UK data protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we take steps to use appropriate safeguards or another lawful transfer mechanism.

7. Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for its purpose. Order, invoice and tax records may need to be retained for up to six years or longer where law requires. Enquiries and age-verification records are kept only for a proportionate period needed for support, disputes, risk management or legal compliance. Data no longer needed is deleted or anonymised where practicable.

8. Your privacy rights

Subject to applicable rules, you may request access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, restriction of or objection to certain processing, data portability where applicable, and withdrawal of consent. Contact andrew@bolleyrum.co.uk to make a request. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

9. Cookies and marketing

We use necessary cookies to operate the website, shopping basket and checkout. Optional analytics or advertising cookies should be used only where the required consent or applicable lawful exemption is in place. You can manage available cookie choices using the website's cookie settings. Marketing emails or messages are sent in accordance with applicable UK privacy and electronic marketing rules; you can opt out using the unsubscribe facility or by contacting us.

10. Security and updates

We use appropriate organisational and technical precautions and reputable service providers to protect customer information, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. We may update this policy as our processing or legal obligations change; the date above shows the latest version.
